Did you know there is a Dr. Seuss land in Florida that is everything you ever imagined? Twisty-turned trees, bright colors and all the beloved characters come to life inside Seuss Landing at Universal Orlando Resort. Seuss Landing is like walking into a Dr. Seuss book. From the colorful scenes to the attractions and food, Seuss Landing is a can’t miss experience for little ones visiting Universal.
Seuss Landing is a land inside Islands of Adventure park. Islands of Adventure is one of two parks at the Universal Orlando Resort. The other park is Universal Studios. Each park has its own pros and cons but if you are looking for Dr. Seuss themed fun you need to plan a stop at Seuss Landing.
Our first visit to Seuss Landing was in 2005. My husband and I visited Universal Orlando for the first time together and it was before we had kids. We had an amazing time! The crowds were so low, this was before Harry Potter, and at times we had rides to ourselves. We rode Jaws just the two of us! It was awesome!
I didn’t even know Seuss Landing was a land until I walked through the land and was mesmerized. I have always loved Dr. Seuss characters and the messages from the books. I loved it! We experienced all the attractions like we were kids again, and I couldn’t wait for the day we could bring our family for a visit.
In 2017 we had our first visit to Universal Orlando Resort as a family. My kids were tall enough and old enough to experience most of the attractions and I couldn’t wait to show them Seuss Landing. Every visit I discover new details in Seuss Landing, but we have family favorites that always make our “must-see/must-do” list.
Hop aboard many of the colorful and favorite Seuss characters as you ride this family fun carousel. Children of all ages can ride but those under 48 inches must be supervised by an adult. There are fun surprises as you ride like Horton the Elephant in the center protecting his egg and animals you can animate by moving their reigns. This is a ride the entire family can enjoy.
Our family loves to meet beloved characters when we visit any theme park and a visit to Seuss Landing is not any different. The characters are very accessible and come out at scheduled times through out the day. We have never waited in very long lines to meet the characters and have always had an opportunity to meet everyone we wanted. Character appearances can change but currently you can meet: the Lorax, Sam I Am, the Grinch, The Cat in the Hat, and Thing 1 & Thing 2. During the holidays you can also meet Grinch is his Santa costume.
I love the message of the Lorax and you can take a short walk through the trees enjoying little surprises along the path.
Board a “couch” and take a ride through the story of The Cat in the Hat. Children must be 36 inches to ride and those under 48 inches must be accompanied by an adult. The Cat in the Hat is a fun ride that highlights all your favorite parts of the story.
There are a few gift shops through out Seuss Landing. My favorite is All the Books You Can Read. It has a huge assortment of Dr. Seuss themed gifts as well as many of your favorite books.
Hop on a fish and ride on this classic spin ride. Be sure to listen if you want to stay dry. The song tells you which way to move your fish(up or down). This will save you from getting wet from the fish that surround the ride.
This quick stop has snacks and drinks including Moose Juice and Goose Juice. We tried the Moose Juice(Orange flavored) and the Goose Juice(Sour Apple) on our last visit. The votes were split among our family on what was best. The Goose Juice was very sour!
This is a slow train ride that goes over and around Seuss Landing. There are two different tracks and you never know which one you will experience. Be sure to look out into the lagoon for Sneetches on the beaches. Children must be 36inches to ride and they do offer Child Swap if needed. The lines for this can get long so be sure to ride it in the morning.
Let your kids run around and explore the If I Ran the Zoo™ play area where they can discover new characters and some water fun. There is one entrance and one exit to this area. I suggest walking through as a family and then giving your kids time in each area to play.
The Zax by Pass is a fun photo-op in Seuss Landing. When you enter Seuss Landing go directly to your left and follow the path. Green Eggs and Ham eatery will be on your right. This will lead you to the Zax by Pass. You can continue along the path and will exit near Moose Juice, Goose Juice. There are also restrooms located at the end of the path.
Escape the Florida heat inside the Circus McGurkus Café Stoo-pendous™ for lunch under the circus tent. The menu offers pizza, chicken platters, and spaghetti in this quick service eatery. The kids will enjoy the chance to see the High in the Sky Trolley go through the restaurant and all the fun details inside.
This is another photo-op located outside the Cat in the Hat gift shop. Sit in the nest that Horton has to keep his egg safe. It is a great place to take a quick family picture! I wrote a post about our favorite photo-ops at Universal Orlando that you can read here.
Seuss Landing is a fun addition to your day at Islands of Adventure. There is so much to do and see that your family could easily spend the morning exploring. We like to set aside time each visit to slowly explore Seuss Landing and it is a family favorite every visit to Islands of Adventure.
