About Me

Hi guys!! I’m so happy you stopped by!

I‘m Leah. I live with my husband and 3 kids in New York.  I started this blog looking to find a community and share my love of travel and creating family memories. I actually started a blog 8 years ago….and then another 4 years ago…but then I never published them. The timing was never right.

In the middle of July 2016 I decided to go for it! I knew that I wanted to blog. I’ve always had a passion for writing. I would create magazines as a little girl and “publish” them. I would read magazine after magazine. Then I went to college for teaching. I became an elementary teacher and liked it…but I was lacking the heart and passion for it.

While in college I met my husband Jeff on a group blind date! Talk about awkward!!  Thankfully it worked out! We got married, moved to a new state and started a family.  3 Babies in 4.5 years!! My oldest daughter Miss O is so kind-hearted and fun.  My middle child Mr. D is spunky and helpful.  My youngest Mr. J is sweet and stubborn.

My kids are my world and when I had them I jumped into being a mom and was so happy I was home. I love being home with my kids and even more I really love being home!! It’s kind of funny because I also love to travel. You will either find me traveling with my family or spending the day home with my family. I’m a homebody traveler!! That would have been a clever blog title! Maybe next time!!

Five for the Road

For now, I am so excited to be starting this blog. I can’t wait to connect with all of you and hope that I can inspire you and your family! I thought it would be nice to share a few things to get to know me a little better. Here are 5 things about me and what I hope to bring to Five for the Road.

I love, love, love, theme parks!

Disney, Universal, Legoland, Hershey Park, Busch Gardens!! I love them!! I am constantly following the latest news and attraction updates and I am usually planning our next theme park visit.  I have had a love for theme parks ever since I started going to Canada’s Wonderland(near Toronto) when I was a toddler.  After that we returned every summer as I grew up.  A few years ago, we visited with my family and my parents.  It was a surreal experience to visit with my parents and my children.

When we do, theme parks we really do them.  On our last Walt Disney World visit we arrived at rope drop and left at closing.  Thankfully my family is serious about theme parks like me!! I love the rides and entertainment!! Theme parks are my happy place!!

I’m not crafty but I like crafts… If they are easy!

I love coloring and drawing and the occasional craft but I am not very good at any of them.  My husband is the crafty one in the house and I am impressed by his drawings on a daily basis.  Paint and watercolors is really as crafty as I get but there are times when I will step out of my comfort zone and try something.  Like last night when I found myself using the hot glue gun to apply yarn to a pumpkin for my daughter’s school project.  It actually turned out better than I expected!

I LOVE to plan our Family Travel and Adventures!

I am always researching and planning our travel adventures.  I have folders and notes on my phone of dream places I’d like to visit or epic road trips I’d like to take.  We plan mystery days for our family a few times a year that include lots of stops and surprise places.  I love itineraries and researching!  This excitement is part of the vacation for me!! This love of planning helped push me to start this blog too.  I was sending travel tips to friends by email and they all encouraged me to start!!

Family Traditions are so important to me!

The things I remember most about growing up are the traditions we made as a family.  Movie nights, cutting our own Christmas tree, summer vacations. They all make my memories from childhood so full.  I want this for my children.  I want them to remember their childhood as a time filled with family memories and togetherness.  I try to do little things throughout the year that are special to our family.  At Christmas, we do a Christmas countdown calendar and hang all our ornaments from where we have traveled.  The first weekend of summer vacation we like to go away for the weekend. We always go apple picking every September.  All the things big and small that make up the moments of our family.

I live in yoga pants, graphic tees, and on coffee!

This is me!  I am in yoga pants almost every day, coffee in hand.  I like to be comfortable!

So…. that’s me! I want to share my passion and inspire your family too!! I believe in staying authentic and want this blog to be a place you can find easy and fun things to do with your family without all the research and planning that goes into it.  Take a look around and please comment or contact me.  I love to hear from you.  I’m so excited you are here!
