Disney is the best for offering awesome and inspiring family entertainment. When we aren’t visiting the parks we like to bring the Disney magic home and enjoy the latest Disney movie at home or in the theaters. These 7 upcoming Disney movies look amazing and I am marking my calendar now because they are going to be Disney magic at it’s best!
From Moana to Incredibles 2 and Wrinkle in Time to Jungle Book, Walt Disney Studios has brought incredible stories, animation, and live action to our family and taken us on an incredible journey. Ever since the first animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs opened in 1938, Disney has made in their mission to entertain us.
When I watch these films I lose myself in the characters and the storytelling. I am so excited for the new releases that are coming from Disney in 2018 and 2019. Family time at the movies is one of our favorite activities and we can’t wait to experience these upcoming Disney movies.
7 Upcoming Disney Movies Your Family Will Love
Christopher Robin(August 3, 2018)
Based on the beloved classic Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin follows a grown-up Christopher Robin and what happens when your childhood friends find you as an adult. I first saw this trailer when I attended the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration and was blown away. I got chills watching the trailer and the heart that went into this film really shows. Check out the trailer below.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (November 2, 2018)
I am really intrigued about The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. It looks to be targeted to more school-age children than the younger set, but my kids are all excited to see it. The story follows Clara as she finds herself in a mysterious world where she must help return harmony to the people and be brave along the journey.
From the trailer I know that the set and costumes will be incredible and I am looking forward to learning more about this film. Check it out below!
Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It-Ralph 2 (November 21, 2018)
Ralph Breaks the Internet may just be the movie I am most excited for. Every single time I watch the original Wreck-It-Ralph I am amazed by the creativity and smart story. Seriously, if you haven’t seen this movie you need to go watch it now. It is funny and witty and all of the things that will make you fall in love with it.
Ralph Breaks the Internet follows our favorite characters, Ralph and Vanellope, as they travel to the internet to help save Vanellope’s game, Sugar Rush. Their journey through the internet offers the viewers so many awesome surprises and a few favorite characters make special appearances. Check out the trailer!
Mary Poppins Returns (December 19, 2018)
I grew up watching Mary Poppins and Disney could have easily remade this film to reach an entire new audience with the same story. Mary Poppins Returns is not a remake. They took our beloved Mary Poppins and created a brand new story bringing elements of the original story into the new one.
Mary Poppins Returns finds Michael and Jane Banks all grown-up and how Mary Poppins brings joy and wonder back into their lives. The casting in Mary Poppins Returns is perfect with Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack. It is also going to be a musical and I can’t wait to hear it! Watch the trailer below.
Dumbo (March 29, 2019)
From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight.
When I heard they were making a live-action Dumbo I really didn’t know what to expect. When I saw the trailer with the song and the sets-Wow!! This is going to be awesome! Tim Burton is directing it so you know it will be unique and brilliant. Dumbo will expand on the classic story we all know and love. Check out the trailer.
Toy Story 4 (June 21, 2019)
Toy Story 4 has a release date but we are still waiting on more details. I will update this page soon! If you need a Toy Story fix check out when I shared our meeting with a Toy Story Imagineer at Disney Hollywood Studios.
Maleficent 2 (TBD)
I really enjoyed Maleficent and how it told the story from a classic villains perspective. Picking up where it left off Maleficent II will follow the complex relationship between Aurora and Maleficent.
The next year is proving to be an exciting one for upcoming Disney movies. I can’t wait to check these out with my family and experience the magic of Disney storytelling.
